Chiaroscuro
The idea of the “male gaze” is something thrown around a lot within the photographic community. In the early stages of my process, photos fell into this “male gaze” category far more than I liked. However, through extensive research, collaboration with those around me (including the models featured), and many hours in the studio, this series has come to a place where these models are portrayed in a way that speaks to the sensuality of each of them individually and to the way the light elevates the power they have within their own skin, and not to the objectification of their features. Overall, this body of work examines the human form in its relation to a singular light source and focuses on the intricacies of the human body.
